Our beautiful planet produces so many naturally occurring ingredients that are amazing for our body, hair and skin. Some popular skincare products may contain potentially harmful substances such as preservatives, synthetic man-made chemicals, parabens and petroleum. Swapping these for natural products reduces your exposure to these additives - which may damage, weaken and irritate the skin.  

We have selected a super boosting recipe for our soaps; with so many benefits that soothe, nourish and moisturise. Here are some examples - 

Prickly Pear Seed Oil grows in abundance in Malta, and contains more Tocopherol (Vitamin E) than any other oil available in the beauty care market. It is the best natural moisturiser on earth, up to 10 times more powerful than Argan Oil. Packed with essential fatty acids, Linoleic Acid / Omega 6, it is a powerhouse for healthy skin and hair.

Coconut Oil contains nourishing fatty acids that help hydrate and protect your skin. It is super moisturising; bolsters your skin's protective barrier by trapping moisture inside. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and collagen producing, it helps maintain firmness and elasticity, repairs and heals.

Shea Butter also has a high concentration of fatty acids and vitamins. Linoleic, oleic, stearic and palmitic acids rapidly absorb into the skin, restoring lipids and creating a barrier between your skin and the outside environment. With the addition of emollient properties that create a smooth and soft barrier that seals in moisture. Vitamins A and E promote antioxidant activity, antibacterial properties fight infection in the skin, and anti-inflammatory properties condition, tone and soothe. Shea butter may be good for helping skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

 

Castor Oil is super moisturising and nourishing. It is made up of around 90% Ricinoleic Acid - a mono saturated omega 9 fatty acid. It is great for locking in moisture; creating a barrier on the skin. It stimulates tissue growth, which promotes wound healing, is anti-inflammatory and has antimicrobial properties that may help fight bacterial overgrowth. 

 

Sweet Almond Oil is rich in Vitamins A and E, reducing irritation and calming inflammation. It contains softening properties that may revitalise, rejuvenate and reduce the signs of aging. Both a moisturiser and an emollient, almond oil smooths the skin and retains it by improving barrier function. It is said to relieve itching and reduce the symptoms of conditions such as acne. psoriasis and eczema.

 

Hemp Oil is perfect for all skin types. It is moisturising, an anti-inflammatory, has antioxidant qualities and antibacterial. Hemp Oil is a rich source of linolenic acid which soothes and protects. It is non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and helps improve skin renewal and elasticity due to high vitamin levels. 

Cocoa Butter Cocoa butter is rich in natural plant compounds called phytochemicals. These substances may improve blood flow to the skin and slow skin aging by protecting against damage from the sun's harmful UV rays. One common use of cocoa butter is to smooth scars, wrinkles, and other marks on the skin. Cocoa butter is mostly made up of fatty acids. These fats may help form a protective layer on the skin, preventing moisture from escaping, and therefore stopping the skin from drying out.

Jojoba Oil contains antimicrobial and anti fungal properties and is used as a remedy for countless skin conditions. Although jojoba oil is a botanical substance, its makeup is so similar to the oil (sebum) your body naturally produces that your skin can’t tell the difference. This makes it incredibly soothing, moisturising and less likely to build up on your skin and clog your pores, leading to fewer breakouts and less severe acne. It works to attract water to the top layer of the skin, helping to keep the skin hydrated.  Jojoba oil contains natural forms of vitamin E, which works with your skin as an antioxidant, meaning that this oil can help your skin fight oxidative stress caused by everyday exposure to pollutants and other toxins.

Avocado Oil is one of the best oils for soothing dry skin. It is naturally high in vitamins and minerals helping hydrate and regenerate skin cells. With a high fatty acid content and natural SPF factor, Avocado oil is replenishing, revitalising and protecting.

Argan Oil is loaded with unsaturated fatty acids (oleic and linoleic acid) and antioxidants (vitamin E and polyphenols) making it hydrating and moisturising. It adds shine, protects hair from breakage and increases elasticity.

 

Black Seed Oil (also known as Kalonji) is packed with vitamins that can have benefits for hair regrowth. Soothing the scalp whilst hydrating, it is suggested that Kalonji oil could help seal in the moisture in individual hair shafts because it is rich in fatty amino acids. It contains a unique active component thymoquinone - a very natural soothing agent

 

Papaya seeds contain a protein called papain which strengthens the hair and encourages fast and healthy hair growth. This oil has a high content of Vitamin A, B and C which help your scalp produce sebum, essential for nourishing, strengthening, and protecting your hair.

 

Broccoli Seed Oil is highly hydrating, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly; it contains a high content of fatty acids, vitamins and specifically Euric acid (Omega 9). Great for dry, thirsty hair, broccoli seed oil is a natural ingredient that is said to mimic silicone.

Camellia (Japanese Tsubaki) Oil is packed with antioxidants that help to calm inflamed and irritated skin. Easily absorbed and rich in Vitamin A, it naturally regenerates, hydrates and replenishes while infusing skin with powerful antioxidants and a high Vitamin E content, giving protection from free radical damage.

Safflower Oil is a rich source of fatty acids that help improve the skin's natural barrier and improve overall skin health. It deeply moisturizes and is rich in protective antioxidants - from both the high vitamin E content and unique flavonoids. Especially healing for damaged, dry skin due to its high concentrations of omega-6 fatty acid. Linoleic acid function allows quick absorption without a greasy consistency to moisturize the skin leaving a radiant, soft, and smooth glow. Safflower oil has a comedogenic rating of 0 meaning it doesn’t clog your pores.

Pink Pastel Clay is amazing for all skin types - especially sensitive, dry and dehydrated skin.  It is gently exfoliating and light, promoting a radiant and balanced complexion.

Pink clay is rich in Silica, which may help to improve skin elasticity and cell renewal, for supple younger looking skin. It helps replenish the skin with natural mineral nourishment.

Moroccan Ghassoul Clay is detoxifying, exfoliating and deep cleansing. Rich in magnesium and potassium, research suggests that it can act as a protective barrier while eliminating the toxic substances our skin is exposed to. 

Ghassoul clay softens skin and has a soothing effect. It is used for balancing surface oil by absorbing excess oils on the skin.  

Kaolin Clay has a neutral pH and is rich in a mineral called Kaolinite. It has multiple benefits for all skin types, and is especially gentle for dry, sensitive, and mature skin. Detoxifying and exfoliating, Kaolin cleanses and tones whilst also stimulating skin cells.  

This clay benefits acne prone skin by removing impurities straight from the pores. It is a gentle and mild clay, that may also reduce inflammation and swelling around existing blemishes.

Formed from volcanic ash, Bentonite Clay has been used for thousands of years to remove impurities from the skin. The negatively charged ions in the clay attract and draw out the toxins to to the skin surface. Fantastic for acne prone skin, it is a preventative of blemishes too. 

 

Naturally exfoliating, it brightens through the regeneration of new cells, evening tone and tightening the skin.    

Charcoal has been used medicinally for centuries. This natural cleanser is great for when your skin needs a heavy detox - it is deeply cleansing and exfoliating, while drawing out excess oils and toxins.   

The antibacterial properties of activated charcoal may help lift bacteria from the pores without absorbing vitamins and nutrients. It leaves your skin looking and feeling radiantly healthy.

Yellow Clay draws out impurities, detoxifying and unblocking pores, stimulates blood circulation to the skin. Helps heal and repair, yellow clay is extremely soothing and gentle for sensitive and dry skin.

Purple clay with its detoxifying, absorbent properties and low concentration of mineral salts, this clay is perfect for dry and fragile skin. It is restoring, helping the skin's nutrition and maintaining healthy skin. Packed with naturally occurring copper, selenium, magnesium, zinc and manganese that helps the skin's nutrition and maintain the skin's health.

French Green Clay is absorbent, detoxifying and helps heal the skin. Tightens pores and regulates sebum production. Gentle yet a deep cleanser - draw impurities from pores, resulting in a cleaner, brighter complexion. 

Green clay is referred to as illite, a subcategory of clays. The name describes the color of the clay, which comes from its combination of iron oxides and decomposed matter — typically algae or chlorophyll.

Spirulina (natural algae) is loaded with proteins, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids. It is super at detoxifying - facilitating cell turner to help faster healing and eliminating toxins.

It contains anti-aging booster's vitamin E and selenium, whilst tyrosine slows down the skin cell aging process and encourages cell renewal. Spirulina decreases inflammation, tones the skin and boosts radiance.

Moringa is packed with vitamins. It supports the skin's ability to self-repair - encourages skin cell renewal, boosts collagen formation and may help increase skin elasticity. Ideal for both oily and dry skin, Moringa has high anti-oxidant properties and helps balance the skin to protect whilst also repairing. 

Moringa powder is made from the dried leaves of the Moringa oleifera plant or 'tree of life', praised for its health benefits for thousands of years.

Baobab contains amazing levels of nutrients including vitamin C (helping to increase the production of collagen and elastin in your skin) and proteins (that help to keep the skin supple and smooth). In high abundance of polyphenols (antioxident plant chemicals) Baobab is great for aging skin. It is also a great cleanser, very nourishing and helps to alleviate irritation.

Baobab tree produces a large fruit that is commonly consumed and appreciated for its delicious citrus-like flavor. The pulp, leaves and seeds of the baobab fruit — which is also available in powdered form — have been associated with many health benefits and are a staple in various recipes and cuisines.

Wheatgrass is high in nutrients and antioxidants, especially vitamin A and E. It fights free radicals to prevent cell damage and reduce oxidative stress. It is an anti-inflammatory and helps ease swelling and redness, allowing the skin to heal quicker. Said to stimulate the production of fibroblasts and collagen, it helps repair UV and environmental damage whilst firming and smoothing the skin.

Wheatgrass powder is prepared from the freshly sprouted leaves of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum.

Pink Pitaya or Dragonfruit powder, is loaded with vitamin B3 that enables it to sooth and protect. Said to be amazing for acne-prone skin as it contains a high amount of vitamin A and  C, this antioxidant is preventative, decongesting and purifying. It can reduce inflammation and redness whilst also moisturising. 

Derived from the pitaya fruit which is freeze dried when fresh, pink pitaya powder is bright and nutrient-rich.

Crammed full of antioxidants, Butterfly Pea flower powder has great benefits for the skin. 

A soothing anti-inflammatory, it is rich in polyphenols and flavonoids which stop the effects of free radicals that damage and degrade the skin. It is known to diminish wrinkles, helping to reduce the signs of aging in the skin. It is gentle yet powerful, calming and reducing redness, whilst nourishing. Due to it's analgesic properties it may also relieve minor aches and pains.

Butterfly pea powder is made from the butterfly pea plant, a beautiful flowering vine native to Thailand, Burma and other parts of Southeast Asia. It's bright indigo flowers have been used for centuries to dye foods various shades of blue.

Beetroot Powder is excellent for detoxing your skin and helps stimulate blood flow levels. Beetroot is considered a natural remedy to make your skin smooth and silky year-round.

 

It is rich in iron and carotenoids (phytonutrients that fight free radicals), moisturising and penetrating pores and inner layers, increasing elasticity.

Orange Peel Powder contains a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. A natural cleanser that reduces inflammation, helping form collagen and elastin. Softens, smooths and firms – orange peel powder evens and tightens skin tone. Improves excess oil levels on the skin.

Ashwagandha is deeply cleansing, moisturising and calming. It increases cellular energy of the skin, boosting and brightening complexion. It is extremely hydrating and rejuvenating, controlling collagen depletion, smoothing fine lines and reducing inflammation.

The ashwagandha plant is a small shrub with yellow flowers that's native to India and Southeast Asia. The powder is derived from extracts of the plant's root or leaves.

Acai Berry is rich in omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids  which help skin appear youthful and supple. Suitable for sensitive skin, acai berry is nourishing and soothing on irritation and inflammation. Rich in vitamin A and C- known promoters of collagen production. Anthocyanins help in cell regeneration for a healthy glow.

Nettle Root Powder contains natural astringent properties which are great for treating dry, itchy skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic - an incredibly healing plant which also regulates natural sebum production.

Aloe is often called ‘the miracle plant’ due to its skin-healing powers. Contains anti-inflammatory properties which can reduce pain and swelling. Supports the production and release of collagen. Antioxidant, protective and deeply moisturising. Effective treatment of acne, sunburn, eczema, rosacea and skin wounds.

 

Oatmeal moisturises, protects, locks in moisture and rehydrates. Helps balance your skin's natural pH levels, calming and soothing especially for dry and sensitive skin. Packed with fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, Oatmeal heals damaged areas of skin and reduces severity by restoring and maintaining the skin barrier.

Lion’s Mane has a superb anti-ageing effect on the skin. It contains polysaccharides which enhance enzyme activities and increase collagen levels. Antioxidants fight inflammation and promote faster healing of wounds, whilst calming skin sensitivities and allergies. Helping to prevent and relieve oxidative stress caused by exposure to chemicals in the environment. This super powder is nourishing, moisturising and extremely gentle.

Sea Moss helps protect the skin barrier, balance oil production and maintain a healthy complexion. It is richly hydrating, with high vitamin and mineral contents. Locking in moisture, it has antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial functions which reduce severity of inflammation and skin irritations.

Lucuma boasts numerous benefits. Keeping skin healthy, it is a powerful, natural antioxidant packed with zinc, beta-carotene, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C.  It contains healing and anti-inflammatory properties, combatting the signs of skin ageing caused by oxidative stress.

Turmeric is a skin boosting powerhouse. ESSENTIAL OILS

Tea Tree - antifungal, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, helps to soothe and relieve painful and irritated skin. Used to treat several conditions such as rosacea and dry skin itching, it provides numerous benefits for the skin.

 

Peppermint - cooling, refreshing then gently warming. This oil is antiseptic and deodorising, toning and soothing for irritated skin. Stimulating and analgesic, peppermint oil is good for neuralgia, muscular pains, headaches and is a great decongestant. 

 

Bergamot – antibacterial and antiviral properties, it is soothing, cooling, calming and healing, ideal for dry or itchy skin. Bergamot is balancing and helps to elevate a low mood, enhancing wellbeing. It is also great at aiding a restful sleep.

 

Frankincense – Rejuvenating and invigorating complexion, it helps to close pores and tone skin. Healing, soothing and calming, Frankincense oil is an anti-inflammatory and may help sore joints, reduce pain and increase movement. It can lift spirits, increase energy and focus, and aid meditation.

 

Lavender – soothing, conditioning, regenerative and a rejuvenating healer for the skin, lavender oil has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is deeply relaxing, aiding in restful sleep, reducing stress and anxiety, and a mild analgesic for headaches, muscular and nerve pain.

 

Geranium Rose – a balancing, cooling and reviving effect on skin, especially when weather-damaged or irritated. Suitable for all skin types, reputed to soothe and improve the quality of skin by balancing its natural oil productions. A cheerful oil that lifts spirits and helps to ease anxiety, it is both calming and uplifting, reducing restlessness.

 

Vetiver – promotes skin healing and growth of new tissue, it is antiseptic and slightly astringent which make vetiver a good oil for healing wounds. It is grounding and calming, helping to relieve distress and overwhelm. A natural sedative, makes vetiver great at promoting relaxation and restful sleep.

 

Ylang Ylang – stimulating effect improves structure and restores a youthful glow. A great cleanser, with a balancing action on secretion of sebum and regulating its production. Calming and uplifting, ylang ylang eases tension and increases feelings of wellbeing

 

Rosemary – contains rosmarinic acid, which in addition to being anti-inflammatory, is also antiviral and antibacterial with healing properties. Stimulates the nervous system and increases circulation to the brain, rosemary has a reviving effect which helps to improve memory and concentration.

 

Eucalyptus – soothing and cleansing, toning and balancing, eucalyptus is especially good for oily or acne prone skin. It is warming and antiseptic, helpful for healing bacterial or fungal infections and clearing sinuses. Eases aches and pains, loosens muscles and joints, refreshes the mind and combats tiredness. A good oil for improving concentration and lifting feelings of sadness.

 

Lemongrass – refreshes and tones skin, lemongrass is a good cleanser as it opens the pores. It is especially good for oily or acne prone skin as it has antiseptic and astringent properties, and also helps relieve eczema. Lemongrass is a really good pre-sport massage or for treating aching or strained muscles post exercise – it strengthens muscle tone and slack tissues. Raises spirits and lifts exhaustion, also a great natural insect repellent.

 

Neroli – balances moisture levels on the skin, helping to reduce fie lines caused by dehydration. Helping to maintain elasticity, its gentle toning action makes it ideal for fine skin, oily and acne-prone skin. Antiseptic and astringent properties help speed the healing of wounds. Neroli has a long history as a remedy for anxiety. This calming, refreshing and uplifting oil is powerful at balancing and reviving – an important oil for wellbeing.
